VAGRANT GIVEN CHOICE WEEK TO CONSIDER The passing of a week will see John Williams either working on roading contracts at Coromandel or within the stone walls of Mount Eden gaol. Williams, a labourer, aged 56. pleaded guilty at. the Police Court this morning to being idle and disorderly and having insufficient lawful means of support. In the opinion of Chief-Detective Hammond. Williams would not work. He was drinking about the city with bad characters, and had a long list of previous convictions. Williams said that he had been working only a month ago, and had work to go to at Coromandel. He was convicted and remanded for a week for sentence. “If I find that you iiave not left for Coromandel you will get a term of imprisonment,'’ warned Mr. W. R McKean, S.M.
