GIFT TO GOVERNOR-GENERAL

PHOTO OF FATHER’S YACHT At Dunedin an interesting gift was made to the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, yesterday, by the Mayor of Port Chalmers, Mr. T. Anderson, and Mr. J- Loudon, who was chariman of the Otago Harbour Board when, his Excellency made an official inspection of the board’s works recently. The presentation was of an enlarged photograph of the yacht Blanche, which was owned by Sir James Fergusson. father of the present Governor-General. The yacht is seen lying in the Port Chalmers graving dock, in December, 1873. The Blanche, a vessel of 60 tons, had been sailed from Wellington to Dunedin, the passengers being Sir James Fergus-son, Lady Fergusson, the present Governor-General, and his brother. Admiral Fergusson.
