Graceful Gowns and Pretty Flowers Enhance Summer’s Wedding Days
CLARK—REID
St. Mary’s Church, Opotiki, was the seen© of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday, when Winifred, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Reid, of Toa Toa, Opotiki, was united in matrimony to Charles Trevor, youngest son of Mrs. and the late Mr. T. Clark, of Opotiki. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, looked very charming in a frock of delphinium blue georgette, heavily embroidered with hat to tone. She carried a dainty bouquet of white roses and asparagus fern, with touches of matching blue. Miss Marjorie Reid, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid. She wore a dainty frock of mauve shot taffeta, with a large mauve crinoline hat. Her bouquet was of mauve sweet peas. Mr. Malcolm Abbot attended the bridegroom as best man. The Rev. Father Smiers officiated. The bride’s travelling costume was of chocolate brown crepe de chine, richly embroidered, with hat to match. The honeymoon will be spent in Auckland. Both the bride and bridegroom are well known, the bride’s father being chairman of the Opotiki County Council and a number of various local bodies. The bridegroom is president of the Opotiki Agricultural and Pastoral Association.
PARKINSON—LETHABY
One of the biggest weddings held in Opotiki for some considerable time took place on Wednesday night, when Anna Elsie Vera, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lethaby, of Invercargill, was married to Charles William, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Parkinson, of the Junction, Opotiki. The wedding was held in the Salvation Army Hall, Major Moore, of Tauranga, performing the marriage ceremony. The bride, who was given away by Mr. W. Young, wore the regulation Salvation Army uniform, with sash. The other members of the bridal party were also in uniform. Miss Mavis Parkinson, sister of the bridegroom, was bridesmaid, and Mr. Selwyn Yeoman performed the duties of best man. The hall had been very tastefully decorated by friends of the contracting parties. After the wedding ceremony a dainty wedding breakfast was held in the Farmers’ Tearooms, there being a large number of guests present.

The engagement is announced of Joyce, younger daughter $f Air. and Airs. G. Croxford, of Wellington, formerly of Hamilton, to Eric, younger son of Air. C. P. AVortb, of Uataitai, Wellington.
GAULT—MILLER
A quiet wedding took place at KingStreet, Opotiki, when ATaud vConstance Aliller, only daughter of Air. and Airs. D. Aliller, of Opotiki, was married to William Alexander Gault, of O'tara, Opotiki, only son of Air. and Atrs. J. Gault, of Auckland. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. David Hird, AI.A. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a beige lace frock. The tulle-embroidered veil of shellpink was held in place by a coronet of orange blossoms and silver leaves, and her bouquet was of flame antirrhinums and golden nemesias. The bride was attended by Miss Norma Ballantine, who wore a frock of cornflower blue georgette, with hat to match. Her bouquet was of pink sweet peas. Mr. H. Claydon attended as best man. The bride’s travelling costume was a smart cinnamon brown repp frock, with hat to tone.
WEBB—McANULTY
A quiet wedding was celebrated at Otahuhu on Thursday evening, when Edna, eldest daughter of Air. and Airs. W. G. McAnulty, of Luke Street, Otahuhu, was married to George, second son of Airs. Wynne and the late Air. Webb. The Rev. Father Dumpliy conducted the wedding service, Mr. R. Pearson -was best man, and Air. Fred AlcAnulty groomsman. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a pretty frock of pastel blue georgette, with a finely pleated tiered skirt, relieved with french posies. She wore a dainty picture hat and carried a posy of matching shades. Aliss Elva Ayres, cousin of the bride, attended as maid, wearing a dainty frock of mauve georgette, with corsage of silver brocade and a bandeau of tulle. She carried a bouquet to tone with her frock. Aliss Rosie Wynne, also a bridesmaid, wore iris georgette, with floral trimmings, and her headdress was of tulle in deeper shades. A pretty bouquet was carried. Little Joy AlcAnulty acted as flower girl, wearing a picturesque frock of forget-me-not blue georgette, frilled with narrow silver lace, and finished at the shoulder with a posy. She carried a basket of flowers. The wedding took place at the residence of the bride’s mother, and later a reception was held, the rooms being beautifully decorated with, bowls of rose and mauve flowers. A pretty wedding bell was suspended over the bridal table. Airs. AlcAnulty, mother of the bride, wore sapphire blue ninon with deep side panels, finished with sequin buckles, and a hat to match. Airs. Wynne was in deep opal blue georgette, with patterned georgette relief, and a small beige straw hat. The bride’s travelling suit was of navy san toy, worn over a dainty frock of rose georgette. With this was worn a smart straw hat. Among the guests were: Air. and Airs. Joseph AlcAnulty, grandparents of the bride; Air. and Airs. J. H. AlcAnulty, Air. and Airs. Edward AlcAnulty, Air. and Airs. E. Carter, Air. and Airs. J. CJoodwin. Mrs. Ayres, Mr. and Airs. R. Lovett, Aliss M. Saunders, Air. and Mrs. Lockwood, Mrs. F. Webb, Air. and Airs. McLaren, Airs. R.
