PICNIC ON PINE ISLAND

CITY COUNCIL EMPLOYEES’ CLUB; A picnic will be held at Pine Island to-morrow by the Auckland City Council employees* Recreation Club. The S.S. Peregrine will leave the ferry wharf at 9.30 a.m., and. weather permitting, one of the most popular outings of the year will be enjoyed. A huge sports programme will be held, and Walter Smith’s orchestra will be in attendance. Hot water, milk, fruit, lollies and ice-creams will be supplied free.

Griffith has made “The Battle of the Sexes” an epic of the average family, with its petty disappointments, its tragedies and triumphs. Jean. Hersholt, Phyllis Haver, Belle Bennett and Sally O'Xeii play the leading roles.
