When the Takupuna Racing Club j commenced its summer meeting to-day | the course was brightened by a particularly large number of women in attractive gowns and suits. Colour was more varied than it has been for some time, and the materials ranged from the airiest of georgettes and laces to light-weight tweeds and woollen crepe de chines. The ensemble suit was easily the most favoured mode, whether in silken fabrics or some heavier weave, and hats were mostly of shady proportions. Among those present were: — Mrs. Ernest Alison, leaf green frock of embroidered french voile, and lotus shaded hat. Miss Molly Bailey, flowered frock of rose and blue crepe faiHe and hat to tone. Miss K. Manning, rose patterned frock of fawn crepe de chine and hat to match. Miss M. Sutherland, navy blue patterned frock of crepe de chine, and navy Bangkok hat. Miss Binsted, polka dotted frock ol crepe de chine and small rose hut. Mrs. M. Connelly, flared frock of navy blue crepe de, chine with spotted relief and navy blue hat. Mrs. Nicks, figured frock of beige crepe faille and beige corded silk coat with nat to tone. Mrs. Lawford, petunia crepe de chine frock and black hat. Mrs. J. Alexander, black crepe de chine ensemble with Roman stripes and black nat. . Airs. Burchas, black crepe faille ensemble and black balibuntai hat. Mrs. J. J. Graham, grey and navy blue patterned irocK of crepe de chine and hat to tone. Mrs. E. A. fiacre, black taffeta frock with pleated inns of floral taffeta and small green hat. Mrs. J. Hamlin, steel grey tailored suit and Bankok hat to tone. Miss N. Mahon, navy blue and white georgette frock and blue and white hat. Mrs. Von Sturmer, navy blue coat of crepe faille over gentian blue frock with natural Bankok hat. Mrs. McManemin. beige frock of crepe elise with beige picture hat to match. Miss D. Farquhar, navy blue crepe de chine, patterned in faun, and hat to tone.
