Obituary

MISS CATHERINE WALLACE A Scottish pioneer, Miss Catherine Wallace, died on Thursday at the residence of her niece, Mrs. S. J. Harbutt, of Epsom, at the age of 82 years. She left Cairnhill, Ayrshire, with her parents, 75 years ago, and arrived in New Zealand in the ship Joseph Fletcher on October 7, 1854. Her father, the late Mr. James Wallace. was a manufacturer of agricultural implements in Otahuhu, where Miss Wallace spent the greater part of her life. She took a keen interest in music. .... , Miss 'Wallace visited her birthplace about 40 years ago. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. W. N. Sturges, ana her brother, Mr. Andrew Wallace.
