He repeated his pledge not to impose taxes on foodstuffs. He condemned nationalisation, with its record of nothing but failure and loss everywhere. Mr Baldwin gave the following figures as the losses in experiments in nationalisation in connection with shipping: Australia, £14,000,000: Canada, £10,000,000; the United States, £100,000,000.
