Ancient Pest Fought with Flame Guns

LOCUSTS IN THE HOLY LAND Times Cable. LONDON, Thursday. The Jerusalem correspondent of the Times says it is officially announced that an invasion of locusts has reached the vicinity of Allenby Bridge. Swarms of the insects are circling over a radius of 13 miles in Transjordania. The members of the anti-locust service slew vast quantities. After which the swarms scattered. However, they reappeared in the villages along the line of the Dead Sea. A report from ITebon says large new swarms have settled in Jericho, Transjordania and Palestine. A joint campaign to deal with the locusts has been organised. A Jerusalem field company is operating with 32 flame guns. It his partially annihilated a dense swarm eastward of Jericho. Camel patrols are watching the border eastward of Beersheba.
