Once Iraq has been admitted to the League of Nations all her existing treaties and agreements with Britain will automatically end, according to the provisions of her treaty of 1926 with Britain. This fact is* recalled in connection with an assurance received by the Government of Iraq from Britain. This is to the effect that her promise to support Iraq’s application for admission to the League in 1932 will hold good whether or not an agreement is reached about military and financial questions at present in. dispute. Britain has pointed out that the best course for the patriotic people of Iraq will be to put their house in order so that Britain, four years hence, may have the best and strongest arguments for supporting her candidature for membership of the League.
