HOTEL AUCKLAND
MORE ALTERATIONS LARGE SUM TO BE SPENT The new company which has taken over the Hotel Auckland proposes to make it one of the largest accommodation houses in New Zealand. It is stated that the two top floors are to be completely altered. When this is done there will be over 200 bedrooms in the hotel. A sum of between £20,000 or £30,000 is to be spent on the alterations. There will be hot and cold water in each bedroom and every modern convenience throughout the hotel. The two top floors are to be refurnished. Some time ago the Hotel Auckland was known as the Waitemata. Last yer it was altered throughout and given its present name, and is now a popular house for travellers and visitors. On Tuesday the following notice appeared under new public company* registrations: Hotel Auckland. Limited.—Objects:’ To acquire the property of “Hotel Auckland” and carry on the business of licensed victuallers. Capital, £ GO,OOO, in £1 Shares. Subscribers: J. D. Prime, H. D. Gillespie, C. D. D’Audney, J. B. Walklate, E. P. Gifford, J. J. K. Terry and R. C. J. Sailderson, one share each.
