PROVINCIAL GOLF TITLES
AT TITIRANGI THIS TEAR PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The Auckland provincial golf championships this year will be played at Titirangi links instead of at Middle- ' more where they have been played for j many years. I The Auckland Club is reconstructing j several greens, which cannot be ready j for Easter, and it decided to offer the | championship meeting to Titirangi, an offer which the Manugakiekie Club lias accepted. Just prior to Christmas water was laid on to all the Titirangi greens, a dam being constructed on the Whau and an electric-pump installed. Each green can be watered for a full day once a week. The Christmas downpour came at an acceptable time, and Urn greens should be in excellent order ror the touranment, which, as usual, will bo held on Easter Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Interest will attacli to the scores which the aspirants will put up on the new Titirangi course, bunkering of which is now fairly extensive. PROFESSIONALS' CHAMPIONSHIP The New Zealand professional championship this year will be played at Waiohiki links, Napier, the dates fixed by a programme just issued by the ; New Zealand Golf Council fixing the dates for February 20, 21 and 22. The championship will be decided over 72 holes, and will be held on the second two days. Stroke and bogey competitions will make up the remainder of the programme. It is questionable whether either E. S. Douglas, of Maungakiekie, or E, .T. Moss, of Midlemore, will be competitors. Moss at present is in Sydney, and is not due back until the middle of February.
