HAMILTON ROWING
REGATTA ARRANGEMENTS i (From Our Own Correspondent; HAMILTON. Wednesday. Strong objection to “Rigger’s" re- , | marks in last evening’s Sun and his ; i prediction that Auckland would not ' i the eight-oar boats to the Anni- | versary Regatta next Tuesday, was | j voiced at the final meeting of the I j Regatta Committee last evening. ! The opinion was expressed that there was no foundation in the rumour that the boats would not be sent and the statement that the contest would be between Hamilton and North Shore was also disputed. The action of the A.K.A. in failing to forward the entries of the various clubs by yesterday, closing day, was also strongly criticised and the secretary was authorised to make urgent endeavours to have the entries sent in time for the draw to-day. The committee undertook to unpack and store all boats which reached Hamilton by Saturday. “Rigger” points out that lie has never said that the eiglit-oared boats would not be sent to Hamilton. His remark ; was; “It is doubtful whether the A.R.A. 1 will be able to make the necessary : arrangements to transport the eights to I Hamilton.’’ and this is correct. There are difficulties to be overcome and, in the opinion of at least one member of the A.R.A.. these obstacles may well prove insuperable. As far as the race is concerned. “Rigger’s” contention was that Hamilton and Shore are the only crews certain to take the water. After some deliberation. Waitemata, lias also decided to enter, but no news of Tauranga's intentions are yet to band.
