Miss Armstrong will shortly leave Cambridge to take up a position at Te< Arawa, near East Cape. DEPARTING MEMBER TENNIS PRESENTATION ! Members of the John Court, Ltd., tennis club made a presentation on Saturday to Miss Jean Taylor, one of the members who is leaving for Taraj naki. Mr. P. Hall, the club captain, presented Miss Taylor with a gold founj tain pen and pencil. Miss Taylor, who was a mistress at 1 the Grammar School, has accepted a position on the staff of the New Ply--1 mouth Girls’ .High School. The J.C.L. Club plays on two courts granted to it by Mr. John Court, of Hamilton Road, Ponsonby. TEMPERANCE MEETING i Mrs. Lee Cowie was the speaker at i a home meeting at the residence of | Mrs. Rasper, Turner Street, of the i Young People’s Christian Temperance * Union. Mrs. Cowie referred to the good work for the temperance movement of Lady Henry Somerset, Miss Frances Willard and Mr. Raper. Two new members were initiated. Songs were sung by Mrs. Kasper and the Misses Evans and McCulley. Miss Raw gave a pianoforte solo and Miss Geary a recitation.
