PAEROA ODDFELLOWS
DISTRICT GRAND MASTER'S VISIT On Tuesday evening, Brother D. Gubb, Auckland District Grand Master, M.U.1.0.0.F., paid an official visit to Loyal Jubileo Lodge, No. 7446, Paeroa. The meeting, held in the Returned Soldiers* Club, was presided over by the Noble Grand. Sister Mary Bertelsen. The lodge, which was established in 1897, has continued to make steady progress and has been responsible for the opening of what has proved to be a very successful lodge at Netherton. Loyal Netherton Lodge having in its turn opened a lodge at Kerepeehi on the Ilauraki Plains, Jubilee Lodge has played no small part in the growth, of M.U. Oddfellowship in this district. The Noble Grand sister welcomed the Grand Master, expressing the appreciation of the lodge at the early visit of Brother Gubb in the New Year. The District Grand Master addressed the meeting, thanking the lodge for its reception and touching on matters of lodge management, finance and membership. The honours of the order were accorded the Grand Master, the visitors. the Loyal Hot Springs Lodge, Te Aroha, Loyal Karangahake Lodge, and Loyal Netherton Lodge, and Brother Charles Glover, a member of the lodge, who has been ill for eight months in Thames Hospital. An apology was received and accepted from the ViceGrand, Brother D. S. Kerr, who is on holiday. A resolution of appreciation of the services of P.G. Sister Freeman, who has received an appointment at Rotorua, was passed unanimously. Following the meeting a dance and euchre party was held, the honours of the card game going to Brother T. M. Wilkinson, first, and Brother William ('ranch, second. Music was supplied by Mr. Geo. Yercoe.
