REVUE AT ST. JAMES
GEORGE WALLACE AND CO. “His Royal Highness’* makes his to appreciative audiences at St Janies Theatre each evening:, and there is no sign of the bright George Wallavo Company dwindling in popularity. Back with the latest ideas on the production of revues with pep anc punch, George Wallace is setting a pace which his successors will have a big job to keep up with. “His Royal Highness” is the latest production, and it is the comedy of a worried monarch, who, nevertheless, has some of the weaknesses of Old King Cole. To the court of the king who likes music and dancing come the courtiers and the entertainers, some of them sad rascals, and the fun is fast and f furious. Marshall Crosby, Marie layman, Jack Scott and Malda Jones are the other principal members of the company. There will be a change of programme at St. James to-morrow night.
JOHN GILBERT'S FUTURE Various rumours as to the future affiliation of John Gilbert have been dispersed with the announcement that this star has signed a new long-term contract with Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer.
Thus it is definitely assured that the star of “The Big Parade,” “The Cossacks,” “Flesh and the devil,” “Anna Karenina” and “Man, Woman and Son” will remain with the whose supervision these outstanding successes were produced.
Gilbert recently completed “A Woman | of Affairs” in which he is co-starred j with Greta Garbo, and lie is now making “Thirst,” under the direction of William Nigh. |
