rpHERE is no limit to the enthusiasm of bandsmen in the colliery districts of England. One day a burly miner entered the consulting room of the village doctor, laid a badly bruised thumb on the table, and exclaimed, “lop it off.” The doctor explained that, though it was in a nasty state it was certainly curable. “Lop it off, ah tell thee,” repeated the patient, "lop it off quick. Gets in way o’ t’ euphonium.”
