DISPUTE WITH MINISTER
FRUIT CONTROL BOARD APPLES FOR GERMANY (Special to THE SUN) WELLINGTON, To-day. A'further stage has been readied in .the dispute between the Fruit Control Board and the Minister of Agriculture (the Jion. G. W. Forbes) concerning the shipment of apples to Germany. It appears that following the decision of the board to disallow a f.o.b. order for shipment of apples to Hamburg, permission to export which, Mr. Forbes thought, should be granted, the firm involved has made further overtures which will soon receive the attention of the Government. Tho suggestion that the act of the Minister in communicating with the Control Board to give his opinion foreshadows limitations of the board's power is ridiculed in Wellington, where it .is pointed out that the board’s powers are laid down by statute and that nothing short of repeal or amendment of the statute will alter them. Another meeting of the Fruit Control Board will be held in a few days, but there is unlikely to be further development just. yet. as the next move, if any, must come from the Minister. As fruitgrowers have demonstrated that they are almost unanimously behind the board in the matter, further action is considered unlikely.
