The weather conditions on the north coast of Queensland have moderated The flood waters are now receding. Heavy rain, however, is falling in the Townsville district, and most of the railway lines are flooded. The Proserpine River is in high flood as the result of torrential rain. Ten inches were registered in 33 hours. All the bridges are submerged, the surrounding country is flooded, and the lower parts of the town are under water.
