KING MAKES RAPID STRIDES
CHEERFULNESS AT PALACE CONVALESCENCE NEARER j (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) i (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.20 a.m. LONDON. Wednesday. After Lord Dawson. Sir Hugh Rigby and Sir Stanley Hewett saw the King this morning, they announced that his progress was being maintained. The next bulletin. it is expected, will be issued i to-morrow night. I The Central News Agency says that the King is making even more rapid strides toward convalescence than is indicated in the official statement. His Majesty- is in better spirits and cheerfulness reigns at the Palace. The Duke and Duchess of York yesi terday attended a performance of I “Patsy.” i An official statement issued at 10.50 o’clock last night stated that the King's progress noted in the morning bulletin had been maintained. Ilis doctors had not yet decided the date of his removal to Bognor. bat expected it to be early in February. A British Official Wireless message says that the only feature of the King's condition that does not give cause for satisfaction at present is that his weight does not increase. It is hoped that the change of air will have a beneficial effect.
The Queen will accompany the; King to Bognor. It is now thought likely that his Majesty will make the journey by train. The problem is whether the shorter journey by train, which would necessitate his removal from a car to the train in London, and from the train to another car at Bognor, would have greater advantages than an uninterrupted journey by road, which would take much longer. The advantage of the train would be; that it could be so comfortably fitted that little motion would be felt.
