CONCRETING MT. ALBERT RD.
HIGHWAYS BOARD TO INSPECT Although some months have elapsed since the Mount Albert Road from the Royal Oak to the boundary of the Mount Albeit borough was declared a main highway, nothing beyond maintenance work has been done to the surface, owing to the road board aud the Highways Board not seeing eye to eye on the Question of the subsidy. The road board wants the road laid in concrete, and is asking for a £3 to 111 subsidy, which the Highways Board has so far not granted. The question was advanced a stage at the meeting of the road board last evening, when a letter was received from the district representative of the Highways Board, who notified that the members of the latter body would be passing through Auckland early next month, and would take the opportunity of inspecting the road in question, with the object of giving the road board's request for an increased subsidy further consideration. Messrs. E. E. Jones, S. I. Goodall, G. E. Tansley, and E. V. Pearce were appointed a committee to meet the Highways Board.
