Dalgety in Demand

A BRIGHTER tone prevails on the market this morning and considerable business has been transacted. All insurance shares are in demand, few sellers quoting. Dalgety shares have many buyers at £ls 6s, but fail to attract sellers. A sale was reported in these shares at £ls Bs.

Considerable attention is still being paid to the banking section. Adelaide has a persistent buyer at £lO, Commercial of Australia are quoted, ex rights, with buyers 29s 2d, the rights ha ve buyers at 8s; Bank of New South Wales remain firm with buyers £sl ss; New Zealand are steady, buyers quoting 625, sellers 62s 3d, no sellers appearing for the mortgage shares. Insurance shares are attracting considerable attention. Many buyers are quoting in this section. • * • N’.Z. and River Plate have buyers at 325. no sellers appearing. Roan and Mercantile, ordinary and preference, are in demand, no sellers quoting. Coal shares are still in demand. Hikurangi shares remain quiet at present. Pukemiro are firm, buyers quoting 665, Sellers 70s; Renown, both ord. and pref.,

are firming, and many buyers are quoting for both issues. Taupiri also have many buyers. Auckland Gas changed hands this morning at 24s sd, leaving little change in the market, the contributing shares are firm. * * * Waihi shares are firming. Buyers have advanced to 14s 9d. sellers quoting 14s lOd. Mount Lyell have buyers at 40s 6d, shares unoffered. On 'Change; Bank of New South Wales, £sl ss.
