/ -\j r> \v. Russell-Wood, of Auckland, has received the appointment of judge at the Christchurch Competitions Spcity’s festival in May, Pr. E. Roy Lanffe, M. 8., Ch.B. (N.Z.), of Thames, has been admitted by examination to the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. The Rev. Brother Fergus, of the Sacred Heart College, Auckland, has received the appointment of director at the Alarist Brothers' School at Hamilton. The Rev. Canon Macfarlane has taken charge of the parish of Northt ote in succession to the Rev. T. South - worth. Canon Macfarlane began his new duties last Sunday. Mr. H. Bethem, of the Land and Survey Department, Samoa, reached ~nd on the Tofua yesterday. He will spend a holiday in New Zealand with his wife and family. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kirby, of Sydney, were among the passengers on the Ulimaroa which arrived from Australia this morning. They are the parents of Mr. W. E. Kirby, Auckland manager for Paramount Films.
