Canon Macfarlane has taken charge of the parish of Northt ote in succession to the Rev. T. South - worth. Canon Macfarlane began his new duties last Sunday. Mr. H. Bethem, of the Land and Survey Department, Samoa, reached ~nd on the Tofua yesterday. He will spend a holiday in New Zealand with his wife and family. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Kirby, of Sydney, were among the passengers on the Ulimaroa which arrived from Australia this morning. They are the parents of Mr. W. E. Kirby, Auckland manager for Paramount Films.
