ELECTRIC POWER
AUCKLAND BOARD MEETS The Auckland Electric-Power Board met yesterday afternoon. The chairman. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, presided. The general manager, Mr. R. H. Bartley, reported that despite the holiday-loading the power consumed exceeded substantially that of the previous year, and King’s Wharf station generated 3,374,590 units. In addition to King’s Wharf production. 381,790 units had been purchased from Horaliora, an increase of practically half a million units over the corresponding period last year. The supply from Horaliora was somewhat unsteady during the holidays, due to trouble at the Horaliora plant and the desire to conserve water at the McLaren Falls plant. King’s Wharf, however, was able to handle the position without difficulty. Important work was carried out on certain sections of the Auckland steam-plant during the holidays, with the result that the new year was commenced with everything in firstclass order. The last section of the Olevedon reticulation was livened up on the Saturday and Sunday prior to Christmas, and arrangements were made for the demonstrator to spend the week-end in this district to attend to consumers’ requirements as they arose.
