' LADY’S BOY SPRINTS WELL TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE There was a little galloping at Elici - slie this morning, but very ie\v 01 the work-out were anything out of the ordinary and did not proviue much of a lint* on the candidates’ prospects at Takapuna. at the end ol the week. Thej outside of the course proper, with tlna trestles about 25 feet out, was m excellent order, while the tan also provided good going. Lady's Boy was tlia outstanding performer, covering halt; a mile in uD, this being the best of tliq morning. COURSE PROPER I’arfait Amour was the first tty appear, and ran six furlongs in 1.23 2-5* travelling easily throughout. Engaged in the High Weight at Takupuna, Salamander was senL over a round to record 2.13 3-5. It was not an impressive effort, but he will be in. liis class at the iSliure, and that should help him. Optimistic and Gold Blend wen* « partnered over five luriongs, taking 1.8, the former appearing to please most, although tho pair finished on terms In receipt of several lengths* start Odin finished slightly in advance ofi Palmares at the end of six luriongs in 1.20, tho initial furlong taking 13. anti the first two 26 1-5. The honours ol* tho gallop were undoubtedly all witty the grey, for his time must have beeq much better. Looking in splendid trim. Eager Rosd was accompanied by Bizarro when she was despatched a mile, running the journey in 1.46 2-5. Eager Hose drew away from her companion at the **nd| and finished full of running. However, the chestnut mare is riot yet up to tow rj hall class, and may find the opposition a little too good in the Cup at TukaJ puna. Gold Money is not very often quired to do her best on the tracks, and the easy manner in which she covered five furlongs in 1.9, clearly that she could have done a Jot bottem In fact, she was never off the bit. War Officer and Kaiwanga, partnered over five furlongs, reeled off the last half mile in 51. They had nothing separating them at the post, but the former was ridden vigorously over ths last furlong. Miss Myrtle and Brampton wore nof extended to stride over half a mile in 55] while Xorval Tea and Critique ran 3 furlong further in 1.5. FAVOURITE FOR THE SPRINT Vallar showed his usual galloping ability by jumping away from the hall mile post and striding home in 51 l-o» He will be in great order for sprin| events at the Shore. Arc-hero, Mon Star and Pekatahi wers in that order at tho end of a mile irt 1.49 1-5. Archero is nearing her best as was evident by the easy manner ix) which she dis}>osed of her companions There was nothing between Sir Mono and Lido at the end of live furlongs ifl 1.5 2-5. The former should race pronti inently at Takapuna. Travelling easily all the way. Tlty Lover and Hyde Park, two candidates for the Cup at Takapuna, traversed a round in 2.7 3-5, the final six furlongs taking 1.21 2-5, and the last half mill in 53 4-5. Lady's Boy showed a fine turn o! speed by easily defeating Kniglij Town over half a mile in 50. Tin* la 1 tel was out very wide, however. Provid4 ing Lady’s Boy reproduces his traelj form on race day he is sure to have 2 large following in the sprints at TakuJ puna.
