NEW LYNN, HENDERSON AND GLEN EDEN QUESTIONS TO TRANSPORT BOARD Several important policy questions will require consideration before Henderson, New Lynn and Glen Eden decide to join up with the Auckland Transport Board. This was indicated in a letter from the chairman of the New Lynn Town Board, Mr. W. L. Titchener, in a letter the board to-day.
Mr. Titchener informed the board that several conferences had been held between the three outside bodies, but before any step was taken to join up the outside bodies desired to know; (1) Whether the board would agree to direct representation by the associated town boards on the Transport Board;
(2) Whether the board proposed, 11 the event of a levy, to tax the district on which a service was losing, or whether the loss would be spread ov< r the whole district of the Transport Board, and
(3) The attitude of the board u private transport. Mr. Titchener pointed out that t;i«
districts concerned had received a severe check as the result of the handling of transport in their areas by the City Council, and they desired to formulate a policy of action which would enable progress to resume at the natural rate.
