AUCKLAND TRAVELLERS MEET SUCCESSFUL YEAR “The biggest thing of its kind ever carried out in New Zealand.” -was the description applied to the “charity organised by the Auckland Commercial Travellers’ and Warehousemen’s Association last July. This statement was made at the twentyseventh annual meeting of the association on Friday by the president. Mr. W\ H. Prentis. Over 400 motor-cars and trucks, and more than 1.000 helpers, had taken part, resulting in a magnificent response. Cash and clothes valued ur anything from £14,000 to £15,000 had been collected, an unprecedented amount in the Dominion. Their charity concert party, in two entertainments, had also raised £2OO for local charities. In connection with the blind soldiers and sailors’ fund, excellent work luid been done by Mr. W. Garrett and Mr. J. W. Ryan as trustees of tli© fund. The annual report showed a satisfactory profit for the year, the net profit being £46, which was £153 better than the previous year. The association membership was 887, and the club membership 253. An increase wan shown of 12 in association membership, and a decrease of 20 in club membership. Claims amounting to £606 were paid to Auckland members during the year in sick and accident insurance. Donations amounting to £203 were sent to headquarters, Wellington, for the blind soldiers’ and sailors’ fund. The drive in aid of Auckland’s poor had resulted in the collection of £I.BOO in cash, and clothing valued at £12,500. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President, Mr. C. C. Bach; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Badley, A. H. Brookes, L Brown, R. Glover-Clark; treasurer, Mr. M. D. Gray; committee (travellers), Messrs. W Boak, It. A. Brown, J. M. Browning, T. F. Clarke. H. J. Clifton. T. Dickson, W. M. Ingram, L. W. Mc(rlashan, J. W. Ryan, W. Sadler, (warehousemen) J. R. Barber. A. W. Beere, T. D. Collins. O. W. Cox.. P. C. Muir, F. C. Spratt. W. Tailby, T. J. Virtue. Mr. W. H. Prentis, retiring president, was presented with a framed photograph of all the members of the committee at the conclusion of business. Mr. C. E.
