AUCKLAND HEADS MOTOR DEATH LIST

LAST YEAR'S FATALITIES INCREASE IN THE SOUTH The City of Auckland heads the list of motor fatalities of 1928, with a Lot 3 ' of 26. which is an increase of three over 1927. but a big decrease compared with 1926—the black year. In the 14 urban areas of the Dominion, motor vehicle accidents resulted in 98 deaths last year. Th~ fatalities in Wellington and Christchurch increased and Dunedin and Invercargill were the only two centres to register decreases. Following are the totals for the last three years:

In 1923, 61 fatalities occurred in th*“ 14 centres, 22 being Auckland cases, 9 Wellington, and 8 Christchurch. In addition to the 98 motor dent is th€<r* were 38 other traffic fatalities last year.
