ARRESTED FOR MURDER

QUEENSLANDER CHARGED

KILLED MAN AND FLED Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. A Thursday Island message says James Kelly has been remanded to Cairns on a charge of having wilfully murdered Charles Walter at Boonjie Malanda about June 28. Kelly’s alleged statement, which was read in Court, is a complete acknowledgment of the crime. He said that, following an argument, he struck Walter on the head with a piece of wood, and when Walter fell he again struck him. He then carried the body into tbe scrub and hid it. He then cleared out to Thursday Island, where he was arrested.
