BANDITS GRAB GEMS
BOLD NEW YORK COUP LOOT WCRTH £50.000 TAKEN (Australian and N.Z . Press Association) NEW YORK, Friday. A raid was ma(Je by bandits on a fashionable jewellery shop in Park Avenue, New York, to-day. Four men bound and gagged six persons in the shop and stole £40,000 to £50,000 worth of diamonds and other gems. They returned a Burmese Nassak diamond, worth £BO.OOO, to its case after admiring it, apparently because they would have been unable to dispose of It.
