RAILWAY CHIEFS

PERIODIC MEETINGS KEEPING IN TOUCH

(From Our Resident Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day.

An innovation ty the General Manager of Railways which is proving- most useful is the periodic calling of departmental heads to conferences in Wellington- Another of these railway officers’ conferences took place in the capital city yesterday. In addition to the departmental heads the conferences, which are held monthly, are attended by the Divisional Superintendents from both islands.

Usually of a duration of a day or two days, they are having- an excellent effect in keeping departmental heads in touch with what is being done in other branches of the service, and have made possible fuller co-operation than was feasible before. Mr. H. H. Sterling is very pleased with the results which have attended this innovation.
