GREATER ZEPPELIN
NEW GERMAN AIRSHIP GRAF’S SHEDS TOO SMALL Times Cable. Reed. 11 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The Berlin correspondent of “The Times” states that in anticipation of a greater new Zeppelin, dismantling has been begun of the sheds at Friedrichshafen, which are too small. The new Zeppelin, called the LZl2B,' will be about the same length as the Graf Zeppelin, but Its maximum diameter will be increased one-eighth, giving a cubic capacity of 150,000 cubic metres, compared with the Graf Zeppelin’s 105,000, and thus approaching the size of the British airships. The chief alteration relates to the engines, which in accordance with Dr. Eckener’s dictum, will be of greater power. The control and navigation cabins will be moved farther astern, and also lower, giving a full view of the stern, as the officers found the Graf Zeppelin deficient in this respect. The covering will he linen, instead of cotton.
