A group of Nelson bowlers, principally members of the -Matai Club, are Auckland. They have just orip'.P'ed a tour of the Waikato diarirt. and on Saturday last were the ntr of the Kdendale Club, and on Monday they visited the Remuera Club, . hero they were officially welcomed to v IK gland by Mr. S. Coldicutt, president , t the Auckland Bowlins Centre. They «U 1 also be entertained at the Carlton ''nd Epsom Clubs.
The final game in the Civil Service irs .tournament was played on the Lmuera green on Monday last, ben Campbell and Mcßeath tJustice vnartmenti and Bane and Godfrey T aids and Survey), and ended in a to the former pair by 21 to IS. rhis concluding game of a remarkably -cess/ul tournament embodied all the " , inz characteristics necessary for "hi final of such a large event. His regime as president of that body was characterised by the organisation running with wellgoverned smoothness, and it is certain that Mr- Pascoe’s presence will bo greatly missed from bowling circles during the time he is away from the Dominion, but fortunately it will not be for long, for it is mot;e than probable that he will be elected as vice president to the Dominion of New Zealand Bowling Association. It appears that Auckland has the privilege of nominating him in June, and »o abler or more tried bow ler is preheated than Mr. Pascoe. Furthermore, it is more than probable that he will be requested to represent the Dominion at the forthcoming meeting of the International Bowling Board while he is in England. There is rich promise, therefore, that Mr. Pascoe will not be lost to New Zealand bowling. • * • Although it is past the closing date for the champion rink bowls competition, it is expected that more entries will be received fox* this competition between the respective clubs of the Auckland Centre to find the champion rink, and that the total number of entrants will reach at least 30 to 3‘i teams. It is therefore apparent that t ‘ l ® ® ven t will assume fairly large proportions—indeed, about half the size of the Christinas tournament, which totalled 60 rinks—and with the adoption of the two-life system, which is °emg utilised this season in preference to the sudden death principle used last Ttf S< T' ma ke a fairly lengthy event the date fixed for the commencement is Anniversary Day, and the Remuera luo has graciously placed their greens at the disposal of the centre, for which ir° wi H be exceedingly grateful. , ' vlll be remembered that this event If 8 * season was called the Bendigo ij v com P e titi° n on account of four S°ld bowls being donated as the prize ; Leggo, of Bendigo.
