NEW ZEALAND SUPPORTED RATES SHOW SLIGHT INCREASE Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated January 16, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand: The London wool sales opened yesterday with a large attendance, all centres being represented and in active competition, the Continent supporting keenly New Zealand crossbreds. There was an excellent selection of Merino, but crossbred was in small supply. “Compared with the closing rates of the last series, Merino is firm, but unchanged. Crossbred ranges from par to 5 per cent, higher. “There are 103.200 bales available for the series, of which New Zealand supplies 23.700. Australia 73.250, and South .America 1,200.”
