LONDON WOOL SALES
PRICES REMAIN STEADY (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.52 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. At the wool sales, 7,427 bales were offered, of which 6,153 were Australian and 1,022 New .Zealand. There was a good attendance from all quarters. There was a capital selection of Continental style and finer Merinos, and a small supply of sorts suitable for Yorkshire. Prices were steady, with Merinbs generally unchanged. Crossbreds evoked keen Continental competition, slightly in sellers’ favour. There were some withdrawals of shabby second-hand lots owing to the high limits. SYDNEY MARKET STRONG (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, Tuesday. At the Sydney wool sales to-day 31,473 bales were sold. There was a very strong market and values were fully equal to the closing levels of the December sales. Japan and Germany were particularly active. Crossbreds were in strong demand. Greasy Merino sold to 283 d.
