BANKS IN DEMAND (By “NOON CALL”) THE general tone of the market is exceptionally good and considerable business is being recorded. Bank shares remain a popular investment and are very firm.

Tn the* banking section, Adelaide is in demand, buyers quoting at £lO Is, no sellers. Commercial of Australia are steady. National of New Zealand remain firm and sales reported at £7 4s. Bajik of New Zealand changed hands at 625, leaving sellers at 625, buyers 61s 9d. Union of Australia are very firm. Insurance shares are in demand. National have eased slightly. New Zealand are still changing hands at 47s 3d, leaving little change in the market. Queensland have many buyers at 625, but fail to attract sellers. Dalgcty are firming and are quoted with buyers £ls 4s, no shares offering. Newton King (pref.) are wanted at Bs, no sellers appearing. New Zealand and River Plate are quoted ex div. with buyers 31s 9d, shares unoffered. Loan and Mercantile, both ord. and pref., are in demand. Brewery shares are firm. Innes and Co., both issues, are in demand. New

Zealands sold this morning at 58s 3d, leaving the market steady. Staples have many bnyers at 425. All debentures are keenly sought after at high figures.
