WHANGAREI NOTES
HORSES FOR KAWAKAWA ( Special to THE SUN} WHANGAREI, Tuesday. In view of the forthcoming Bay of Islands meeting at Kawakawa on Saturday, a fair number of local horses are being tuned up. The class as a whole is very poor, however. Right and Left has been doing good work, and should make things interesting if reserved for the minor classes. If Furore is ever to win a race he should get home in the Maiden. He has shown plenty of pace in track work, but time and again has failed in the actual race. It looks as though he leaves his heart at home when he races. Sunny Morn has done well since racing at Auckland during Christmas, and will be in her right class on Saturday. Welcome Home has lightened up since coming North, but is making a noise while working and does not seem very hopeful. Illingar looks well, and ought to run prominently. Michael is carrying more condition than usual. He is a useful horse when right.
