MOTOR-CYCLIST LOSES EYE

COLLISION WITH MOTOR-CAR Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. Serious injuries were suffered by the two drivers concerned when a motorcar and a motor-cycle met in a headon collision on the Main North Road last evening. Mr. John Hay, a widower, aged 37, was the driver of the car, and Mr. William Withers, of Swannanoa, aged IS, rode the motorcycle. A slight rain was falling at the time of the mishap. Both men were taken to hospital, Mr. Withers with a fractured right leg and Mr. Hay with an injury to his right eye. Mr. Hay underwent an operation to-day which necessitated the removal of the eye. The motor-cycle was damaged greatly and the car also was damaged, although not to the same extent.
