AIR ROUTE TO INDIA
LONDON-CAIRO-KARACHI
A SIX-DAY JOURNEY British Official Wireless RUGBY, Sunday. Imperial Airways, Limited will open in April an Empire mail route of 5,000 miles, which will bring India within six days of London. , . . „ The journey will be made in daily stages. Passengers and mails will leave London on the morning of the first day by a Handley-Page Na pier air liner, and will fly to Basle. There they will take the train under the Alps to Genoa, where on the second day they Will embark on all-metal llylng-boats and cross the Mediterranean to Cairo. That flight will take two days. The flight across the desert from Cairo to Basra, via Bagdad, will be made on the fourth day% while the lournev down the Persian Gult to k,u - achi will take the remaining two days. It is proposed to extend the route across Indian to Calcutta, and then via Singapore to Australia. A branch line from Capetown will ultimately connect with the main line at Cairo.
