SCORES IN THAMES PLATE High Tide’s Hack Sprint FINE weather conditions overhead induced another large crowd to patronise the second day of the Thames Jockey dub’s annual meeting at Parawai to-day. The racing was again interesting, and the 'course in fine order. Following are the results :

Fifteen came out for the opening event, the Kopu Handicap, and a good favourite was found in Envoy £315, while there was fair support for The Jack Jumper £249, with the winner, Footpad £ 185, at a nice price. When they liad settled down Royal Lover was making play from a strung out field, being followed by Footpad, The Jack Jumper, Claremore, Swiftlight, and Dainty Manners. Crossing the top Royal Lover still held command from Footpad, with Swiftlight, Dainty Manners and Envoy next. As they swept round the home turn there was very little separating Royal Lover, Swiftlight, Dainty Manners and Footpadwhile Crown Arch and Envoy were noticed coming fast on the outside. The leaders bunched still further coming up the straight, and in a thrilling finish Footpad beat ItJnvoy by half a head, with Dainty Manners another head away third. The defection of Whaka King and Mangani left a seven-horse field to contest the High-weight, and there was big money for Bizzaro £ 437, Glenstar £427, and War Officer £390. Passing the stands the fii'st time Glenstar was the leader from Bizzaro, Mashoor. Foxhound, Ramblin’ Kid, Master Roley and War Officer, and along the back Glenstar was clear of the favourite, with Mashoor, Ramblin’ Kid, War OfFi-
cer and Master Roley following, this order being the same crossing the top. Approaching the straight Bizzaro ran up to Glenstar, with Mashoor and War Officer lying handy. Here the contest became a procession, Glenstar going away to beat Bizzaro by four lengths, and War Officer was a similar distance away third. Mashoor was fourth, and then came Master Roley, Ramblin’ Kid and Foxhound. TURUA HANDICAP Of £120; G furlongs 5 HIGH TIDE, 7.5, P. Brady 1 3 ROMAN PEARL, 7.1, H. Wiggins 2 1— MUSSIE, 5.2, IT. Time, 1.16 2-5. Winner trained by J. Eva, Paeroa. High Tide, who was unlucky the first day, won the Turua Handicap, and was at a nice price. A big favourite was made of Mussie (£683), and there was a pronounced drop to Princess Rain (£330) and Roman Pearl (£299), with the winner supported to the extent of £232. Roman Pearl, Arihana. Flying Tresses, Princess Rain,' Mussie and Dainty Arch was the order soon after the dispatch but by the time the field had started to file across the top Arihana had taken charge, his nearest attendants being Flying Tresses, Mussie, Princess Rain, Roman Pearl and Dainty Arch. Arihana was still in charge coming into the straight from Roman Pearl, High Tide, Mussie and Dainty Arch. Inside the distance Roman Pearl looked a winner, but High Tide finished fast and wore her down to win by a short neck. Three lengths away was Mussie, who ran below expectations.
