McKean, having returned from a vacation spent in the Rotorua district, resumed his duties at the Magistrate’s Court this morning, and presided over the Police Court. Sir Thomas Parkinson arrived in Auckland this morning from the South. He is a well-known London medical min. Sir Thcmas was born in Canterbury, where he has been visiting relatives. Mr. Robert Gibb, of Menzies Ferry, Southland, has been ejected a member of the Honey Control Board by a large majority. The only other candidate was Mr. Percival Augustus Hillary, of Waikato.—P.A. Mr. Henry Schwieger, secretary of the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, and chairman of the Primary Producers’ Bank of Australia, is travelling to Honolulu by the Aorangi. Blair, assistant general manager for New Zealand of the Vacuum Oil Company, Pty., Ltd., has been appointed assistant general manager of the Victorian branch,’ with headquarters tit Melbourne. He will leave for Australia by the Tahiti today. Mr I* B. Beale, his Majesty’s Trade Commissioner, is expected to return to Wellington on or about January 28. .Mr. Beale has spent a considerable ume in Britain and recently arrived in Sydney from the Malay Straits Settlement, where ho went on a special mission on behalf of the Department of Overseas Trade. Mr. F. S. Dyson took over his duties to-day a district engineer l’or the Publ.c Works Department. Mr. L. B. Campbell, who has been promoted to the position of inspecting engineer, left to-day for Wellington. Before leaving he was presented with a set of golf clubs by the staff of the department. The presentation was made by Mr. Cooper, chief clerk. Mr. D. G. Ball, LL.B., has been appointed by the Department of Education an inspector of native schools. He was born in Wanganui, and for the last two years has been an organising teacher under the Taranaki Education hoard, before which he was head of the Grovetown School, near Blenheim, for seven years.
