LUNA PARK
“BLONDIN” ON MONDAY Special attraction at Luna Park on Monday will be the appearance of a tight rope walker named Blondin. This ’expert claims to rival the exploits of the celebrated tight rope walker Blondin, whose antics, in the face of death gained him prominence a few years ago. The park will be open as usual this evening when the popular innovation, “The Xuto-Silodrome,” will be available for the entertainment of patrons. The numerous pleasure devices and the Palais de Danse all combine to attract many people and the concession cards and special cash tickets help to provide entertainment at moderate prices. LABOUR PARTY PICNIC The annual picnic of the Labour Party will be held at Pine Island on Sunday, January 20. The s.s. Peregrine will leave the /erry Wharf at 9.45 a.m., calling at Northcote, Birkenhead and Chelsea. The Waterside Workers’ Silver Band will be in attendance, and a variety sports programme will be arranged for young and old. “UNDER SUSPICION” Quite the best picture trade-screened in London last month was “Under Suspicion, the U.F.A. production to be released shortly by Cinema Art Films. It is one of the most convincing mysteries yet filmed. From beginning to end it is naturally intriguing, while the solution is equally natural and satisfying. Constantin J. David's work as a director has to be reckoned with. He has developed his story with exceptionally good detail and one feels that perhaps his clevernes sis so subjugated to telling the story that much of its completely even flow conceals his art till one considers it scene by scene. This is the mark of the true artist. “Under Suspicion” is one of those well-balanced productions which hold more interest and deserve more attention than many more highly advertised pictures. As an entertainment it cannot but succeed everywhere.
“Two Shall Meet.” an original stage play by Owen Davis, has been selected ms the next Charles Rogers starring picture for Paramount, following the completion of his present picture. “Someone to Love.” Baclanova has been assigned to the cast of “Two Shall Meet,” and Dorothy Arzner will -direct.
