PRICES VERY FIRM (From Our Own Correspondent) PUKEKOHE, Thursday. The first stock and pig sale of the year was held at Pukekohe to-day by Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons, Ltd. There was a large yarding of dairy cows, which realised good prices. Pigs were penned in large numbers and sold at rates •slightly better than those ruling at Westfield. Quotations are:— Dairy Stock.—Best cows, close to profit. £ll to £l4; backward, £7 10s to £9 10s; choice heifers at profit. £l3 10s to £l3; others, £8 10s to £lO 10s; backward, £7 to £8 10s. Beef.—Heavy prime cows sold up to £ll 12s 6d; lighter prime. £7 7s 6d to £8 2s 6d: store cows. £3 7s 6d to To 17s 6d; bulls, up to £lO 15s. Pigs—Heavy baconers, £3 Is to £3 Sslight and medium. £2 11s to £2 18s : heavy porkers, £2 7 s to £2 11 s; light and medium. £1 ISs to £2 3s; small and unfinished. £1 13s to £ 1 16s; best stores £1 .Ss to £1 15s; smaller sorts, £1 2s to £1 6s; slips 15s to £1; good weaners, 9s to los; smaller. 6s to Ss; weedy, Is to 4s.
