Trouble at Hankow

Thursday Trouble is brewing at Hankow m consequence of the refusal of the Japanese authorities to compensate the family of Recsha. a coolie who was killed by a Japanese marine motor-cyclist recently. More than 9.000 Chinese employees of Japanese concerns struck work today. A general strike is feared, and an anti-Japanese boycott is spreading. The Chinese Foreign Minister warned the Japanese Consul that responsibility for the trouble rested with Japan. Posters denouncing the Japanese are appearing everywhere in Hankow. Japanese marines are patrolling the boundaries of the concession.
