FAREWELL TO ENGINEER
PUBLIC WORKS PROMOTION MR. L. B. CAMPBELL LEAVES A pleasant informal meeting of members of the Auckland provincial branch of the New Zealand Society of Civil Engineers was held at the Star Hotel last Wednesday, to bid farewell to Mr. L. B. Campbell, district engineer of the Public Works Department, who has been promoted to the position of inspecting engineer for the Dominion. Mr. W. Arthur Gray, chairman of the branch, was in the chair, and Mr. F. E. Powell, on behalf of the members, presented Mr. Campbell with a wallet containing a cheque. References to Mr. Campbell’s good work in the conduct of his official duties were made by Mr. F. E. de Guerrier, Auckland city drainage engineer; Mr. W. E. Bush, city engineer; Mr. J. F. McArthur, Franklin County engineer; Mr. J. T. Murray, Mr. William O’Ryan, and others. The meeting also welcomed Mr. F. S. Dyson, who succeeds Mr. Campbell in Auckland. Mr. J. R. Page, of the Manukau County Council, and Mr. A. Murray, of the Waitemata County Council, being the speakers.
