FAREWELL, THE FROLICS

LAST NIGHT AT HIS MAJESTY’S The Midnight Frolics Company will perform for the last time at His Majesty’s this evening. No more will the redoubtable Clem Dawe bring tears of laughter to the eyes of the audience, no more will Lilian orisp and William Perryman sing to delighted Aucklanders, no more will Gregory Ivanoff perform prodigies on his violin or with the jazz band after to-night, that is." To-night the company will give an extra special farewell programme. All the playlets, songs, dances and jazz numbers that have been most popular during the last five weeks will be grouped together and acted, sung, danced o.r played for the benefit of the last-night audience. It is hoped that, to-night. among other things, Clem Dawe will consent to conduct the jazz band. While his conducting may not give the same results as Ivanoff’s, it has a verve and spirit probably possessed by no other conductor in the world. If ever a man could tie himself in knots with the aid of a conductor’s baton that man is Clem Dawe. Another number which may be anticipated with a fair degree of confidence is Gregory Ivanoff’s performance of the “Hungarian Rhapsody,” a performance which half Auckland has enjoyed since the opening of the show. Finally, it is to be hoped that Clem Dawe will see fit to display his company in Auckland again on his way back from the South.
