VANBRUGH— EOUCICAULT

BOX PLANS OPEN TO-MORROW At Lewis Eady’s to-morrow morning, at nine o’clock, the box plans will be opened for the first nine nights of the approaching season of Irene Vanbrugh, Lion Boucicault. and the J. C. Williamson. Ltd., new English comedy company, which begins at His Majesty's Theatre on Monday night next. The play chosen as the opening production. ‘ All the King's Morses." in which Miss Vanbrugh and Mr. Boucicault have achieved some of their best triumphs in London and Australia, will be staged for three nights only, and it will be followed on Thursday, January 17, by Frederick Lonsdale’s famous comedy, "On Approval.” which will also be presented for three occasions. On Monday, January 21. and two following evenings, Miss Vanbrugh and Mr. Boucicault will appear in "The High Road,” another of Lonsdale’s notable comedies, and it will be followed by "Caroline,” "Belinda.” “Kell o’ New Orleans.” and “Mr. Pirn Passes By.” The tremendous amount of interest that is being -taken by plaj'goers over the approaching visit of Miss .Vanbrugh and Mr. Boucicault has been indicated at office, where there is a continual stream of people inquiring regarding the booking arrangements. There has also been a large number of applications from the country districts, so it would seem that there will be a record demand for seats when the plans are opened. The plays chosen for the farewell season of Miss Vanbrugh and Mr. Boucicault are those in which these delightful artists have achieved their most brilliant triumphs since they last visited New Zealand. The scenery and effects for the opening production have already arrived, and a full lighting rehearsal will be held on Saturday night. Just started at the Paramount Astoria Studios at Long Island is the sound picturisation of the Somerset Maugham play, "The Letter.” Jeanne Eaglels is cast in the leading role, and with her are Reginal Owen, Herbert Marshall, Irene Brown, Lady Tsen Mei, and Tamaki Yoshiwawra. The director is Jean de Limur.
