WILL NOT MAKE PRECEDENT Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. In the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court to-day, Thigue John Lagan, aged 34, a’ clerk, came before Mr. E. Mosley, S.M., charged with tho theft of a postal-packet containing £1 6s in postal notes, the property of the Post-master-General. He was remanded until January 15. Counsel asked for the interim suppression of accused’s "name, in view of his family circumstances. The magistrate said that if he acceded to the request he -would be laying down the rule that all names were to be suppressed before the final hearing. That was too much to expect, and he was not going to make a precedent. Bail was allowed.
