The Log Book

PERSONAL.—The Kaituna is resuming at Auckland to-day, under command of Captain E. J. McClellan. His deck officers are the following: Chief, Mr. H. Evington; second, Mr. D. Burgess; third, Mr. C. FI. Vincent. Captain H. S. Whyborn, of the Komata, has been granted holiday leave at Wellington. The Kaimanawa is resuming at Auckland to-morrow. Captain A. R. Stewart retaining command. The following are his deck officers: Chief, Mr. E. Sutherland; second, Mr. R. Allan; third, Mr. J. Hall. Captain A. S. Dalgliesh is awaiting instructions at Dunedin.

MAM ILI US LEAVES SUVA.—Cabled news has been received by the Shaw, Sav.ill and Albion Company that the Mamilius en route from London, left Suva at 9 a.m. on Tuesday for Lyttelton. Port Chalmers and Timaru. She is due at Lyttelton on Saturday evening.

MARAMA AND MAUNGANUI.—The Marama and the Maunganui both leave Sydney at 3 p.m. to-morrow, the former vessel for Auckland and the latter for Wellington. Both vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning.

TURAKINA AT HALIFAX. —The New Zealand Shipping Company have been notified by cable that the Turakina arrived at Halifax on Friday from Auckland, via New York and Boston, en route to London and West Coast of Great Britain. The vessel left Auckland on November 30.

REMU ERA’S MOVEMENTS.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the liner Remuera, now loading at Auckland, leaves here next Monday for Napier, thence Lyttelton and Wellington to fill up. The liner is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on February 2 for Southampton and London via Panama.

PORT FREMANTLE LEAVES HOME. —Cabled news has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Fremantle sailed from London on Saturday night with general cargo to discharge §.t Suva. Wellington. Lyttelton and Napier. She is due at Suva on February 7, and at Wellington on February 15.

TAMAROA IN PORT.—To complete her loading under the agency of A. S. Paterson and Company, the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s liner Tamaroa arrived at Auckland this morning from Wellington, and berthed at the Central Wharf. She sails from here finally on Saturday, January 19, at 6 a.m., for Southampton and London, via Panama.

TEKOA AT NEW PLYMOUTH.—The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Tekoa arrived at New Plymouth on Tuesday afternoon from Brisbane to commence loading for London. She will leave the Taranaki port on Saturday for Wanganui, thence Picton, Wellington, Waikokopu and Napier to complete loading, and is to clear the latter port finally on February 4'for London, via Panama.

THE SOMERSET’S ITINERARY. The New Zealand Shipping Company reports a change ifi the Somerset’s loading itinerary. She left New Plymouth yesterday afternoon for Lyttelton, instead of Wellington. From Lyttelton the vessel will proceed to Wellington, and is due there on January 21. The Somerset will sail finally from Wellington on January 24 for London. Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool.

ROTORUA FOR LONDON. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua with passengers, mail and cargo, is to leave Wellington for Southampton and London, via Panama, this afternoon.

NASSA LEAVES BALIKPAPAN. —The Anglo - Saxon Petroleum Company’s tanker Nassa is reported to have left Balikpapan, Borneo, on Monday, with a full cargo of bulk oil for New Zealand.

PORT CURTIS FROM NEW YORK.— The Commonwealth and Dominion Line advise that the Port Curtis is scheduled to leave New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin on February 23.

IRIS RETURNS. After repairing a fault in the New’ Zealand-Sydney cable, 300 miles from Wellington, the Pacific Cable Board's steamer Iris returned to Auckland early this morning. She moored at her usual berth at Devon port.

AORANGI DUE SUNDAY.—Leaving Sydney at noon to-day for Auckland, the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi is due here on Sunday evening. She is announced to sail from this port at 3 p.m. next Tuesday for Suva, Honolulu, Victoria and Vancouver.

TAHITI FROM SAN FRANCISCO. — With passengers, mail and cargo from San Francisco, Papeete, and Rarotonga, the Royal Mail liner Tahiti is due at Wellington on Monday morning. She is to resume her voyage to Sydney on Tuesday afternoon.

TREWIDDEN REPORTS. Wireless advice from the Hain Line steamer Trewidden states she will arrive from Montreal early to-morrow morning. The vessel is under charter to the Canadian National Steamships and she has general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington and Geelong.

MANUKA LEAVES MELBOURNE.— The Union Company has been notified by cable that the Manuka sailed from Melbourne at 10.15 a.m. on Tuesday for Wellington, via Milford Sound, bringing 142 saloon and 77 steerage passengers. The vessel is due at Wellington on Monday, and will sail on Tuesday for Lyttelton, Dunedin, Bluff and Melbourne.

WAIOTAPU FROM THE EAST.—The Union Company reports that the Waiotapu is due at Newcastle on Sunday from Calcutta, Penang and Singapore to bunker. She is to leave Newcastle on Monday for Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff, Wellington and Auckland. The vessel is due at Lyttelton on January

GOLDEN STATE COMlNG.—Advice received by Henderson and Macfarlane, Ltd., states the Oceanic and Oriental Navigation Company’s steamer Golden State was despatched from Los Angeles on December 31 with case oil, lumber and general cargo for Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on January 26.

THE CANADIAN BRITISHER. The Canadian Britisher arrived at Napier from Wellington this morning, to continue loading general cargo for New York, Boston and Halifax. From Napier, the vessel will come to Auckland to complete loading. She is now expected at Auckland on Sunday morning and is to sail for New Y'ork on Monday.

SULPHUR FROM TEXAS. Messrs. Robert Millar and Company have received advice that the steamer AnvioColombian has been chartered to load a lull cargo of sulphur at Galveston, lexas, on January 28. SCALES COMPANY’S STEAMERS The Geo. H. Scales Company’s steamer Pareora, now loading at Dunedir is fixed to leave there to-morrow afternoon for Dunkirk. London and Hull, vie Panama.
