Returns issued by the dairy division of the Agricultural Department show that the grading figures for the five months ended December. 1928, show an increase for butter of 5.3 per cent, at 43,693 tons, and for cheese an increase of 12.7 p€*r cent, at 39,601 tons, compared witlti the corresponding period of the preceding season. Reduced to terms of butter-fat equivalent the gradings of dairy produce for live months show an increase of 7.41 per cent, over the gradings for the corresponding period of the preceding season.
NO HOMEWARD INCREASE (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.40 a.m. LONDON, Wednesday. The Australian Press Association understands that the question of increasing Hqmeward freights, which at one time was under consideration, has now been dropped. Revision of the rates to Australia is a long operation. Owing to the enormous number of articles dealt with, the book of rates consists of 150 pages of small type. KAURI GUM BOARD Questions affecting the kauri gum industry were discussed at a meeting of the Kauri Gum Control Board held yesterday. Mr. M. H. VTynyard presided. The election of producers’ representatives will take place on February 20. by postal vote. The returning officer is Mr. G.
