A NEW KING IN THE EAST SHINWARI REVOLT QUELLED (Australian and N.Z. Press AssociationJ Reed. 9.11 a.m. DELHI. Wednesday. A Peshawur report states that the Shinwari revolt in Afghanistan has' been quelled. Large sums have been distributed among the Mohmands and influential tribes in Eastern Afghanistan in an attempt to win them to the Government side. The Mohmand and Khugiani tribesmen sided with the King at the recent tribal gathering, and have now returned home. Jalalabad is under the control of Sardar Ahmadali Jan, an ex-Governor of Kabul who, it is rumoured, has been declared King of Eastern Afghanistan. The road from Peshawur to Kabul will be open shortly. Traffic has been resumed between Jalalabad and Peshawur.
